We offer a holiday cottage with a private hot tub set in the beautiful North Yorkshire countryside. The minimum stay is 3 nights. Our guests tell us that Rose Cottage is like a ‘home from home’ self-catering holiday accommodation in the Ryedale area. The cottage is in the rural village of Thorpe Bassett. Rose Cottage features 2 bedrooms and sleeps up to 4 people. Everyone is welcome, including children. Our garden is also secure, so please feel free to bring up to two dogs.

What we offer…
Rose Cottage provides a romantic, rural setting for couples wanting to spend time together, a superb base for hikers, and the perfect touring base for families wanting to visit North Yorkshire’s many attractions. With a pub that serve food an easy walk away, and the traditional market town of Malton a short drive away, which means that we are confident that you will love your time here. You can book a short break (usually 3 nights minimum stay) or a full week. Rose Cottage offers you a sustainable, comfortable, and well-equipped holiday cottage to relax in. We are constantly seeking ways to reduce our impact on the environment. The property is spotlessly clean, and we sanitise thoroughly to help keep you and our staff safe.
Enjoy a short break in our holiday cottage with a hot tub…
Our holiday cottage has a private hot tub that can accommodate four people comfortably. It is maintained daily with complete sanitisation and water change between guests. Therefore, you can relax and enjoy the spa in confidence that the water is safe and clean.

Dog-Friendly Holiday Accommodation…

You’re welcome to bring up to two dogs at no extra cost. Firstly, our garden is completely secure, allowing you to completely relax in the knowledge that your four-legged friends are safe. Secondly, we have a number of off-lead walks on our doorstep. These range from 20 minutes to several hours. You’ll also find nearby Malton very accommodating to pet owners. Many shops and restaurants are happy to accept dogs, consequently, Malton won UK’s most dog-friendly town in 2018. Finally, if you need a dog bed, towels, or water bowls then just ask. We always have spares available.
Your home from home…
We aim for a ‘home from home’ feel in our holiday cottage; it’s cosy and comfortable, with a good selection of crockery and cookware. However, we have removed non-essential items in line with Covid advice. If you need any items such as baking trays or pans, then please ask us. Tea, coffee, milk, and biscuits are provided for your arrival.

The accommodation has two bedrooms and sleeps four people; there’s a comfortable double bed, a single, plus a pull-out bed underneath. We include bed linen, bathrobes, and towels too. The shower room is downstairs. Rose Cottage features gas central heating to keep you cosy even during the colder winter months. Moreover, our visitors often comment on the amazing views as the cottage looks out onto beautiful farmland that changes with the seasons.

When the weather is fine you can relax in the garden. Why not light the gas barbecue and dine Al-Fresco, on the little patio? However, you might prefer to wander down to the local pub for a bite.

Views…
Rose Cottage looks out onto open farmland, at the foot of the Yorkshire Wolds. The scenery changes throughout the year as crops are grown and harvested. It is not uncommon to see pheasants, partridge, a barn owl, buzzards, and kites. To the north you can see the North Yorkshire Moors in the distance.

Lots to do locally…
In nearby Rillington we have two pubs that serve food. There’s also fish and chip shop, a general store and a butchers, which are about 1/2 a mile away. We can supply a locally sourced breakfast pack for a small fee that will set you up for the day. Public transport is also only half a mile away, therefore a car isn’t essential. We have lots of great walks near us. For example, you can walk along the Yorkshire Wolds Way route from Thorpe Bassett, towards either Filey or Hull. Wolds Way Lavender Farm and Scampston Hall are a five minute drive, or a pleasant walk. Both have good tea rooms so you can have coffee and a cake when you get there. Scampston bakery is worth a visit in the summer too.
A little further afield…
Rose Cottage is midway between York and Scarborough, near the A64. You can easily access local attractions, as our holiday home is centrally located. Above all, many guests find they just want to relax. Nearby is the East coast with beaches such as Scarborough, Hunmanby Gap and Cayton Bay. You might like to take in historic York, ride the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, wander around Castle Howard for instance. For the adventurous there’s always Flamingoland for fast rides and the zoo. After that, the hot tub is perfect to relax in.
